 Liturgy/Divine Worship/Spiritual Life Committee

The Liturgy/Divine Worship/Spiritual Life Committee supports and nourishes the prayer life/spirituality of the Corpus Christi Community. Under the guidance of the Pastor, the Committee coordinates the Liturgical Services of the Parish. It provides support and training to the parish’s liturgical ministers, as well as, creates an environment conducive to spiritual worship and praise. In collaboration with other Committees, the Liturgy/Divine Worship/Spiritual Life Committee works to create a strong and vibrant parish steeped in faith and unity.

The ministries under the Committee include:

  • Altar Servers – The altar servers are youth [starting at age 7] that assist members of the clergy during the liturgy service [Mass]. An altar server attends to supporting tasks at the altar such as assisting during communion, ringing the altar bell, etc.

  • Art and Environment –The art and environment team is responsible for ensuring that the interior of the church [sanctuary] is decorated in the appropriate liturgical colors, as well as, other environmental enhancements appropriate for the liturgical season.

  • Eucharistic Adoration – Eucharistic Adoration is the devotion whereby members of our parish unite in prayer in adoration of our Lord, before the Most Blessed Sacrament. At Corpus Christi adoration is held on the first Friday, of each month in the Chapel between the hours of 8:30 am – 7:30 pm

  • Liturgical Dancers – The liturgical dancers are composed of youth from the parish that participate a form of praise dance; that is incorporated into liturgies and/or worship services as an expression of worship.

  • Ministers of the Holy Communion at Mass [Eucharistic Ministers] – The Ministers of the Holy Communion [EMHC] are responsible for the distribution and/or assistance in the distribution of Holy Communion, during Mass.

  • Ministers of the Holy Communion to the Sick [Ministers of Care] - The Ministers of the Holy Communion to the sick are responsible for the distribution and/or assistance in the distribution of Holy Communion, to sick and homebound persons.

  • Ministers of Hospitality [Ushers] – The ushers or ministers of hospitality welcome parishioners and guest as they enter the church to worship, for mass. They also direct the seating and procession during communion.

  • Ministers of Liturgical Music [Choirs] – The ministers of liturgical music are responsible for identifying the musical selections utilized during the mass. They also lead the congregation in various musical selections.

  • Ministers of the Word [Lectors] – The ministers of the word are responsible for proclaiming the scriptural (the Bible) passages during the Eucharist [Mass].

Prayer Ministry/Spiritual Renewal – During the course of the year, the Liturgy/Divine Worship/Spiritual Life Committee coordinates several spiritual renewal and prayer based activities such as, the Annual Lenten Revival, Lay Minister Spiritual Renewal Sessions, Praying the Rosary, Spiritual Development Video Screenings accompanied with Discussion Sessions, the Stations of the Cross, etc.

In addition, the Liturgy/Divine Worship/Spiritual Life Committee Hosts Bible Study Classes every Thursday, at 6:30 pm, in the Church Rectory.

  • Bible Study — The bible study sessions focus on understanding and applying the principles of God’s Word to our lives. In focusing on God’s Word, with the guidance of the Pastor, the group reads scriptures, then shares observations (what does it say?), interpretations (what does it mean?), and applications (what does it mean for my life?). As we delve into God’s Word, we understand that ultimately it is the Spirit of God who opens the Scriptures to us.
